  • What is the best furniture fabric and color for pet hair?

What is the best furniture fabric and color for pet hair?

I have an Australian shepherd and two cats. I want to get microfiber furniture (the cats are not declawed). I want to know is this the most durable fabric for my money? Also, what color should I pick so pet hair won’t really be too noticeable? I can’t really prevent the animals from getting on the couches because they sleep on it at night and during the day when I am at work. So:
    Best fabric?
    Best color?
    Cleaning suggestions?

Also, I do not want to put a furniture cover over the couches. Thanks.

  • What is your favorite home improvement show?

I enjoy watching these shows on the weekends and was curious as to what may be some of the YA DIYer’s favorite home improvement shows and why?

  • What is the career potential for interior design?

I wish I could choose to go into a field that has high demand, but my only real passion and interests are in art/design. To me, interior design honestly seems the most practical, but is there really enough demand in the job market? I’ve been asking around and people tell me to go into what my heart is in, and I definitely do strongly lean towards art, though I just don’t want to waste my time and effort. I guess I’m just looking for reassurance or advice on interior design and jobs in the art/design area in general.

  • What should I use to clean furniture contaminated by mold that won’t hurt particleboard and wood finishes?

I recently moved all of my furniture that had been in a climate-controlled storage unit for 1 year into my new apartment. My couch grew mold in the storage unit, so I threw it out. The rest of my furniture is primarily particleboard (bookcases, dressers, etc.) and some wood. What should I use to clean this furniture to make sure that there is no mold on it and that won’t destroy the furniture? Thank you!

  • Calling all Warriors (By Erin Hunter) fans! (This includes interior design ideas, so brace yourself)?

Okay! I’m a teen and I’m redoing my room according the Warriors by Erin Hunter. Yay! If anybody has any ideas from the following, out with it! Thanks a lot, everybody! =)

I’m on a low budget, so I can’t really get any new furniture, however I am getting a new bed, a twin size with a shelf headboard. If you can, would you include in your description if I should get a wood, white, etc. one?
    P = I can paint it

    The furniture right now includes…
    1. a light wooden bookcase that is about two feet from the ceiling
    2. A desk that is of the same color and has several paint stains on it =( (Any improvement ideas?)
P 3. A large even lighter wood corner armoire
P 4. A white wicker dresser with an aquarium on top of it (No room for anything else)
P 5. One storage unit shaped like a digital 8 (Meaning one square with another one on top).
    6. A light blue beanbag chair (square).

I know I’m being specific, but any help would be thankful to those of you who took time to read this!

  • Federal Home Improvement Grants, how do they work, how do you apply?

I see advertisements for federal grants that do not have to be paid back that are for everything from small business funding to home improvements. I was wondering if anyone has ever received a grant for home improvement and how you apply and/or qualify to receive one. Basically, how do I get one to do home improvements and renovations??

  • Home Improvement: How can I cut small metal tiles to fit into the wallspace behind the stovetop?

I think these tiles are aluminum (they look like brushed stainless steel). They are about 4″x4″, picked up from a home improvement store. A few tiles need to be cut in half to fit into the wall space above the stovetop, but so far none of the tactics my cousin has used has cut them successfully. The man who lived in the house before had successfully tiled a section using these exact tiles, some of which he did cut in half (although the tile cuts are not straight and so appear to have been done by hand).

Any ideas from some experienced tilers out there? Thanks so much!

  • Interior design ideas for a working British style Phone Booth (the red one) into a living/rec. room?

I once saw a working phone booth, with door and all, incorporated into a living room in an interior design magazine. I am currently planning designs for my basement-party-lounge room, and think this design element would be a great conversation piece for guests. (also serves a purpose) Please post any links to articles or pictures of something similar to this, thanks!
